Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you located in Brisbane South?

Based in Tarragindi, Brisbane South, in a purpose-designed home studio that’s quiet, professional, and intentionally calming. Many clients also travel to us from nearby suburbs like Greenslopes, Holland Park, Annerley, Coorparoo, Mount Gravatt, and Salisbury because they want results-focused skin therapy without the rushed feel of a busy commercial clinic.

Is Humble Skin Health a clinic?

HSH is professional home skin and beauty studio specialising in advanced skin therapy and corrective treatments, with a clinical approach and a personalised experience. While it is  not a large commercial clinic, the environment is purpose-designed for professional skin work, and treatments are delivered with a strong focus on skin integrity, safety, and long-term outcomes.

Who will be treating my skin?

You’ll be treated by the founder and lead skin therapist, Ranjit Chahal. I am a solo operator studio, which means your care is consistent, your progress is tracked over time, and your plan is built around your skin, not a rotating roster of therapists.

Is this a relaxing facial clinic?

HSH is  a results-driven skin therapy studio but the experience is still calm, restorative, and deeply considered. Every session is personalised in real time based on how your skin presents on the day, with a strong focus on long-term skin health, barrier resilience, and measurable improvement over time. You’ll feel cared for and comfortable, while also knowing there’s clinical precision behind every step, from treatment selection to home-care guidance.

Do you offer “one-size” facials?

No, I discuss and tailor every session based on your skin goals and what your skin is doing on the day, including sensitivity, hydration levels, congestion, pigmentation activity, and barrier resilience. That personalised approach is how we achieve long-term results rather than temporary improvement.

Can you help with sensitive skin?

Yes. I work carefully and conservatively with sensitive and reactive skin, with a strong emphasis on barrier support and calm, controlled correction. We choose modalities and products based on tolerance, and we’ll always prioritise skin stability before pushing for more intensive results.

Do you treat acne and breakouts?

I support acne-prone and congested skin with targeted treatments and realistic planning. Because breakouts can have multiple triggers, I focus on reducing inflammation, restoring barrier health, refining texture and congestion, and supporting long-term control through a structured plan and home care. If your acne is severe, inflamed, or complicated, I may recommend a Skin Consultation first to ensure treatment choices are appropriate.

Can you help pigmentation and melasma?

Yes, I can help manage pigmentation with a careful, progressive approach that protects the barrier and reduces the risk of rebound. Pigmentation support often involves a combination of professional treatments, LED therapy, tailored active skincare, and consistent sun protection. Because melasma can be complex and easily triggered, I do assess your skin and history first and then prescribe the safest pathway for visible improvement.

What’s the difference between a Skin Consultation and the Skin Assessment Facial?

A Skin Consultation is a dedicated 30-minute appointment focused on in-depth analysis, lifestyle and barrier assessment, pathway planning, and personalised product prescription. It’s required for new clients booking corrective or advanced treatments so we can prescribe safely. The Skin Assessment Facial is a 60-minute consultation-led facial that includes gentle treatment work and is ideal if you want to start with a guided skin experience while we assess how your skin behaves and what it needs.

Is the Skin Consultation fee redeemable?

Yes. The Skin Consultation is redeemable when you purchase three or more products in a single transaction. This keeps the consultation focused on proper assessment and prescription while making it easier for you to commit to a home-care routine that supports your in-studio results.

Can I message you for skincare advice?

I keep skin advice structured so it’s accurate and fair to every client. If you need guidance, I recommend booking a Skin Consultation or a suitable facial appointment where we can properly assess your skin in person. Quick questions about booking or which service to choose are always welcome, but ongoing diagnostic-style advice is best handled through a consultation.

What are Signature Skin Journeys?

Signature Skin Journeys are our core facial experiences that combine professional skin therapy with a calm, considered treatment flow. They’re customised by time and skin needs, and they include consultation questions at the start so we can tailor the session to your skin on the day. They’re ideal if you want results with a restorative experience and a sustainable plan.

Which facial is best for first-time clients?

Many new clients start with the Skin Assessment Facial if they want gentle guidance without jumping into advanced modalities. If your skin goals are corrective — like pigmentation, acne management, or significant texture concerns — a Skin Consultation is usually the best first step so we can prescribe the right treatments safely and efficiently.

Do your facials include massage?

Some do, and some intentionally don’t. For example, the Skin Assessment Facial is consultation-led and does not include massage, and the Omnilux Express Facial is corrective and massage-free. Our Facial Journey and longer experiences can include face, neck, and décolletage massage where it supports your skin and your treatment goals.

What is Omnilux LED therapy used for?

Omnilux LED therapy is used to support repair, calm inflammation, and encourage healthier skin function. It can be especially helpful for redness, breakouts, compromised barriers, post-procedure recovery, and age-supportive collagen care. We use LED as a standalone option, as an add-on to many treatments, or as part of a structured series when your skin needs consistent support.

Should I choose LED as a series?

If your goal is ongoing skin improvement — especially for inflammation, redness, breakouts, or barrier recovery — a series can be more effective than occasional sessions because LED benefits build with consistency. We’ll recommend the best frequency based on your skin presentation and your broader treatment plan.

What is skin needling and who is it for?

Skin needling, also known as microneedling or collagen induction therapy, is a corrective treatment designed to support collagen renewal, refine texture, and improve the look of lines, pores, and certain scarring patterns. We prescribe it based on skin health, sensitivity, and goals, and we’ll guide you through preparation and aftercare so your skin heals well and results are supported.

Do I need a consult before microneedling?

Yes — new clients must complete a Skin Consultation before booking microneedling. This ensures your skin is suitable, your barrier is prepared, and your plan is designed for the best outcomes with minimal risk.

How many microneedling sessions do you recommend?

Most clients benefit from a course of three to six sessions, spaced roughly two to four weeks apart, but the exact number and spacing depends on your skin’s response and your goals. We’ll prescribe your schedule after assessment rather than guessing, and we’ll adjust based on how your skin heals and progresses.

What are clinical peels and are they safe?

Clinical peels are professional chemical exfoliation treatments designed to improve clarity, congestion, pigmentation, and texture using calibrated strengths and carefully selected blends. Safety comes from correct skin assessment, appropriate peel choice, and aftercare guidance that protects your barrier. We don’t apply peels as a generic “stronger is better” approach — we prescribe what your skin can responsibly handle.

How often can I get clinical peels?

Many peel programs are spaced around two to four weeks apart, but your timing depends on your skin type, sensitivity, and the peel prescribed. We’ll guide frequency based on your skin’s recovery and your overall plan so you see progress without over-stressing the barrier.

What is HydroDiamond resurfacing?

HydroDiamond is a technology-led resurfacing treatment that combines diamond exfoliation with vacuum support and hydration-focused infusion. It’s designed to refine texture, improve congestion, refresh dullness, and support smoother, more hydrated-looking skin. It can be a great option when you want visible refinement with minimal downtime.

What is Oxygen RX and what does it do?

Oxygen RX is a clinically focused treatment designed to support clarity and calm while improving radiance. It’s often chosen for reactive, stressed, congested, or acne-prone skin because it supports balance and comfort while still being results-driven. We can also pair it with LED in a longer session when your skin needs deeper restoration.

What is SWiCH dermal rejuvenation?

SWiCH dermal rejuvenation is a non-exfoliating rejuvenation treatment designed to support the skin’s natural repair cycles and renewal processes without the irritation that can come from aggressive exfoliation. It’s especially suited to reactive, sensitive, or ageing skin that needs renewal but can’t tolerate harsh approaches.

Do you offer RF skin tightening?

Yes. We offer RF skin tightening services designed to support firmer-looking skin and improved texture using non-invasive technology. We use RF as part of an overall skin plan where appropriate, and we may include supportive steps like cooling toning within the treatment flow to keep the experience comfortable.

What is needle-free mesotherapy?

Needle-free mesotherapy is a technology-led treatment that supports hydration, glow, and improved skin comfort by enhancing absorption of selected actives without needles. It can be used to support face, eyes, and lip zones depending on your skin goals and suitability on the day.

Do you treat menopausal skin changes?

Yes. Many clients over 35 come to us for support through hormonal and menopausal skin shifts like dryness, sensitivity, dullness, uneven tone, and changes in firmness. We focus on barrier resilience, calm correction, hydration support, and long-term rejuvenation strategies that respect how your skin is changing rather than overwhelming it.

Can you help with rosacea-prone redness?

We can support redness-prone, reactive skin with barrier-first care, calming modalities, and carefully chosen products, but we’ll always work within professional skin therapy scope. If you have diagnosed rosacea or are under medical treatment, we’ll tailor your plan to be conservative and supportive, and we’ll recommend a Skin Consultation first so we can assess triggers and tolerance.

Do you diagnose skin conditions?

No. We do not diagnose or treat medical or dermatological conditions. Our services are focused on cosmetic and clinical skin health within professional skin therapy scope, and if something appears medical in nature, we’ll advise you to seek medical assessment.

Is your studio suitable for men?

Yes. We treat both women and men and keep the experience straightforward and approachable, especially for clients who are new to skincare. If you want clearer, healthier skin or support with ageing, congestion, or sensitivity, we’ll guide you to the right starting point.

Do you offer men’s waxing services?

We offer limited men’s waxing for existing clients only, and we don’t promote it publicly. If you’re already a client and you’d like to ask about suitability, you can contact us directly.

Do you offer waxing, brows, and makeup?

Yes, we offer women’s waxing, brows and lashes, and makeup as supporting services. Many clients book these alongside skin services, and we keep them secondary so the focus stays on results-driven skin therapy and long-term improvement.

Can I book an add-on alone?

No. Our therapeutic add-ons and skin add-ons are designed to complement a Signature Skin Journey or selected treatments and must be booked with an eligible service. This ensures the add-on is appropriate for your skin on the day and supports your overall results rather than working against them.

How do I choose the right treatment?

If you’re unsure, the safest approach is to start with a Skin Consultation, a Skin Assessment Facial, or a Signature Skin Journey. We’ll ask the right questions, assess your skin in person, and guide you into a plan that matches your goals, budget, and timeline. You can also call or text us if you want help choosing a booking option before you commit.

Do you accept new clients right now?

Yes, we’re accepting new clients. If you’re new and looking for corrective results, please begin with the appropriate starting point so we can prescribe safely and build the right plan from day one.

How do I book with Humble Skin Health?

You can book online through our Timely booking system using the Book Online button. If you’re unsure what to select, you’re welcome to call or text and we’ll guide you toward the best option based on your goals and whether you’re new to advanced treatments.

Do you require a deposit to book?

Yes. A 50% deposit is required to secure all bookings. This protects appointment times for clients and supports a calm, dedicated service schedule in our solo operator studio.

What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice incur a 50% fee, and your deposit is forfeited. Because we operate by appointment and reserve time specifically for you, we appreciate as much notice as possible if plans change.

Can I reschedule and keep my deposit?

Yes, your deposit can roll over when you reschedule with 48 hours’ notice or more. If rescheduling occurs with less than 48 hours’ notice, the deposit does not roll over. These policies also apply when a gift voucher is used as a deposit.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept payment through our standard booking and payment processes, including options for deposits and advance bookings. If you need to make a payment for a deposit, to secure a future treatment, or to purchase products remotely, you can use our Make Payment page.

Can I buy products without an appointment?

Yes, existing clients often purchase skincare for home use, and we can support product purchases remotely when appropriate. Because product choice depends on your skin, we may recommend a Skin Consultation if you’re new or if your routine needs to be rebuilt safely.

Which skincare brands do you use?

We use professional ranges selected for performance and skin compatibility, including Dermaviduals, Circadia, Medik8, and Priori (with ranges reviewed and refined over time). Product selection is always based on your skin needs and tolerance rather than trends, and we keep recommendations practical and sustainable so you can maintain results at home.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Gift vouchers can be used for services and products, including clinical and corrective treatments, Signature Skin Journeys, add-ons, and skincare. They’re a popular option when you want to give someone a meaningful experience that supports long-term skin health.

How long are gift vouchers valid?

Gift vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase, and this validity period is firm. We recommend booking early, especially around busy periods, so the recipient can use the voucher comfortably within the timeframe.

Can a gift voucher be split?

No. Gift vouchers must be redeemed in one booking, and they can’t be split across multiple appointments or used partially over time. This keeps redemption simple and ensures the booking value is covered in one session.

Are gift vouchers transferable or refundable?

Gift vouchers are non-transferable and not redeemable for cash. If you’re purchasing a voucher as a gift, we recommend confirming the recipient can attend within the 12-month validity period.

Can I use a voucher as a deposit?

Yes. Gift vouchers can be used to secure appointments as a deposit, and the same rescheduling and cancellation rules apply. Your voucher must cover the full value of the booking when it’s redeemed.

Do you have parking available?

Street parking is available. Because we’re a calm home studio rather than a shopping-centre clinic, many clients find arrival and parking simpler and more relaxed.

What should I do before my appointment?

Before your appointment, come with clean skin where possible and be ready to share key information about your skin history, allergies, medications, pregnancy or nursing status, and any recent procedures. If you’re unsure whether something is relevant, it’s always better to disclose it so we can keep your treatment safe and appropriate.

Should I avoid coming in if unwell?

Yes. If you’re unwell or experiencing cold or flu symptoms, or you have an active infection such as a cold sore, please let us know and reschedule. This protects your health, our clinical hygiene standards, and other clients.

Are your treatments safe during pregnancy?

Some treatments and modalities are not suitable during pregnancy, and suitability depends on what you’re booking. We ask you to disclose pregnancy at booking so we can recommend safe options and adjust your plan conservatively.

Can I have treatments while breastfeeding?

Some treatments, including certain advanced modalities and peels, may not be recommended while breastfeeding depending on your individual situation. Please disclose your nursing status at booking so we can recommend the most appropriate services for you.

Are there conditions that make treatments unsuitable?

Yes, some health conditions, medications, and active infections can make certain modalities unsuitable. For example, treatments like LED, RF, microcurrent, and mesotherapy may not be appropriate for clients with certain medical devices or conditions, or those undergoing specific medical treatments. Microneedling and clinical peels also have important restrictions. We rely on accurate disclosure at booking so we can keep your treatment safe.

Can I have treatments on Roaccutane?

Generally, microneedling and clinical peels are not suitable while on Roaccutane, and timing after finishing the medication matters as well. Please disclose this at booking, and we’ll recommend safer alternatives until your skin is ready.

Do you offer before-and-after results?

Yes, a results-focused approach is central to what we do, and we’re building a dedicated results section using client photos supplied with consent. If you’re working toward a longer-term goal, we can also guide you on what progress typically looks like over time and how to support it with home care.

How soon will I see results?

Some clients notice immediate improvements like smoother texture, hydration, and glow after certain facials, especially event-ready treatments. For corrective goals such as pigmentation, acne management, texture refinement, and age management, results are usually progressive and build over a series of treatments combined with consistent home care and sun protection.

Do you guarantee results?

We don’t guarantee results because every skin is different and outcomes depend on factors like skin biology, consistency, home care, lifestyle, and the treatment plan prescribed. What we do guarantee is a professional, tailored approach with clear guidance, realistic expectations, and treatment decisions based on your skin on the day.

Why do you focus on barrier health?

Your skin barrier is the foundation of calm, resilient, responsive skin. When the barrier is compromised, you’re more likely to experience sensitivity, inflammation, dehydration, and unpredictable reactions to active products and treatments. By strengthening barrier function first, we can often achieve better corrective results with less irritation and more stability over time.

What makes Humble Skin Health different?

We combine clinical precision with thoughtful care and deep respect for your skin’s natural intelligence. Treatments aren’t rushed, generic, or trend-driven — they’re personalised, adjusted in real time, and designed for long-term, measurable improvement. Clients often tell us the experience feels calming and nurturing while still being results-focused and professional, which is exactly what we aim for.

Do you offer “cheap deals” or discounts?

No. We focus on premium, results-driven skin therapy with carefully chosen modalities, professional-grade products, and time set aside for proper assessment and guidance. Our pricing reflects the clinical approach, experience, and personalised care required to achieve long-term outcomes.

How do I maintain results at home?

Maintaining results comes down to consistent, suitable home care and realistic routines you can stick to. We’ll recommend products and habits that support your treatment plan, strengthen your barrier, and protect your skin daily, especially with sun protection for pigmentation and ageing support. Home care doesn’t need to be complicated — it needs to be correct for your skin.

What if I’m nervous about advanced treatments?

That’s completely normal, especially if you’ve had sensitivity or disappointing experiences elsewhere. We take a conservative, education-first approach and will only recommend advanced treatments when your skin is ready. Starting with a Skin Consultation or Skin Assessment Facial is often the best way to build confidence and create a plan that feels safe, clear, and achievable.

Can I come in just for relaxation?

Yes, you can choose a Signature Skin Journey for a calm, restorative experience, and you’ll still receive professional skin therapy and tailored guidance. Even when relaxation is your priority, we keep the session purposeful so you leave feeling refreshed while also supporting your long-term skin health.

Is your studio private and quiet?

Yes. Humble Skin Health is a purpose-designed home studio, which allows for a calmer, more personal experience than many busy commercial clinics. Clients often say the space feels relaxing and considered, and they appreciate being able to focus on their treatment without distractions.

Do you sell ingredient-heavy routines?

No. We keep recommendations practical and focused on what your skin actually needs. Where ingredients are discussed, it’s for clarity and education, not overwhelm, and we prioritise compatibility, barrier support, and results over complicated trends.

What happens during my first visit?

Your first visit includes a warm welcome, a clear discussion about your goals and skin history, and an assessment of how your skin is presenting that day. From there, we tailor the treatment and explain why we’re choosing specific steps or modalities, then finish with straightforward aftercare guidance and a plan you can realistically follow.

What aftercare do you provide?

Aftercare is always part of the experience. We’ll guide you on what to avoid, how to support healing if you’ve had a corrective treatment, and what changes to make to your routine if needed. Our goal is to protect your results, keep your barrier calm, and make sure you feel confident about what to do next.

Can I wear makeup after treatments?

It depends on the treatment and how your skin responds. For gentle facials, makeup may be fine afterward, while for corrective treatments we may recommend giving your skin time to settle. We’ll advise you at the end of your appointment based on what we did and how your skin looks.

How far in advance should I book?

If you have a specific timeframe, it’s best to book early to secure your preferred appointment time. This is especially important for event-related appointments or if you’re planning a course of treatments like peels, microneedling, or LED sessions, where timing and consistency matter.

When should I book an event facial?

For our Red Carpet Glow Facial, we recommend booking around 3–7 days before your event. This allows time for your skin to settle and for the benefits like glow, refinement, and hydration to look their best.

Can you help me build a treatment plan?

Yes. Building a structured plan is one of our strengths, especially for concerns like pigmentation, acne management, texture refinement, and age management. We’ll assess your skin, set realistic milestones, and recommend a schedule that fits your skin biology and lifestyle, then refine the plan as your skin responds.

What if I’m not sure about products?

That’s exactly what we’re here for. We’ll help you understand what your skin actually needs and which products are likely to support your goals without triggering irritation or wasting money. If you’re new to professional skincare or have a history of sensitivity, starting with a Skin Consultation is usually the most effective and confidence-building option.

Do you work with ageing and fine lines?

Yes. We support age management with a long-term approach that includes collagen-supportive treatments, texture refinement, hydration, and barrier resilience. We’ll tailor recommendations to your skin’s tolerance, especially if you’re experiencing hormonal or menopausal shifts that change how your skin reacts.

What if I have allergies or reactions?

Please disclose allergies, sensitivities, and previous reactions at booking and again at your appointment. We take this seriously and will tailor product selection and treatment choices conservatively to reduce risk, especially for reactive skin.

Do treatments change based on my skin?

Yes. Your skin can change week to week due to stress, hormones, travel, weather, products, and health. We assess your skin on the day and adjust treatments in real time so your session remains safe, effective, and aligned with your current skin needs.

Do you offer packages or pre-paid series?

Yes, selected services have pre-paid series options, such as microneedling courses and LED series, because consistent treatment is often the best way to achieve measurable outcomes. If you’re considering a series, we’ll guide you on whether your skin and goals are suited and what timing makes sense.

What if I want faster results?

We understand the desire for quick improvement, but the fastest path is usually the safest, most consistent one. We’ll choose the most effective treatments your skin can tolerate, pair them with the right home care, and keep your barrier protected so you make progress without setbacks that can slow you down.

What safety information must I disclose?

You must disclose relevant health conditions, pregnancy or nursing status, medications, and any infections or symptoms when booking, because treatments may not be suitable for everyone and suitability is based on your skin and health on the day. This information allows us to select appropriate modalities, keep your treatment safe, and give you the best possible outcome while staying within professional skin therapy scope.
